Kenya Youth Federation (KYF) proudly joined the Kitui County Government and other stakeholders in marking the International Day of Forests at Muthale Primary, Kitui West. This year’s theme, “Forests and Food,” emphasized the role of trees in ensuring food security and environmental sustainability.
KYF members actively took part in the event, contributing to the 1,500+ trees planted & distributed to locals during the exercise. The event brought together key leaders, including the CEC Environment Kitui County, CO Environment, CO Agriculture, Chief KFS Kitui County, DCC Kitui West, and other stakeholders, all united in the mission to enhance forest cover and combat climate change.
Recognizing that true environmental impact goes beyond planting, KYF has committed to frequent follow-ups and maintenance visits to ensure that all trees planted grow into a valuable resource for the community. Sustainability is at the core of KYF’s programs, setting us apart in the youth empowerment space.
To further strengthen this initiative, KYF will establish a Tree Nursery in Kitui, ensuring a continuous supply of seedlings for the youth and the local community. This will not only contribute to Kitui County’s reforestation efforts but also support Kenya’s national goal of 30% forest cover.
KYF remains steadfast in its mission to empower youth while driving environmental conservation. Let’s work together for a greener, more sustainable future.
