Kenya Youth Federation Meets Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment to Explore Collaborative Action

The Kenya Youth Federation (KYF) National Team recently held a productive engagement with the Nairobi County Government, led by a courtesy visit to the Chief Officer for Environment, Mr. Geoffrey Mosiria. The meeting, held in Nairobi, and mostly chaired by the Dept. Director Environment  focused on building a strategic partnership between KYF and the county government in advancing environmental conservation and protection within the capital.

This engagement marks a significant step forward in KYF’s mission to work hand-in-hand with both national and county governments to empower young people while contributing to the country’s environmental sustainability goals. As a youth-led organization dedicated to socioeconomic transformation, KYF recognizes that environmental preservation is a cornerstone of a healthier, greener, and more resilient society.

The discussions with Mr. Mosiria were highly productive and centered around practical ways KYF can support Nairobi’s efforts in green space restoration, climate education, waste management awareness, and youth participation in environmental programs. A number of proposed joint initiatives were positively received, with both parties expressing their commitment to developing sustainable and inclusive solutions.

Some of the joint KYF–Nairobi County environmental programs agreed upon during the meeting are now under review and will be officially communicated once finalized. These programs aim to actively involve young people from across the county in climate action efforts, while also creating employment and skills development opportunities through community-based projects.

This collaboration is a promising example of how youth organizations and government can come together to address pressing environmental challenges, while also empowering the next generation of environmental champions.

Kenya Youth Federation remains committed to supporting Nairobi County in making the city cleaner, greener, and more sustainable. We thank Mr. Geoffrey Mosiria and the Department of Environment for the warm reception and open dialogue, and we look forward to announcing more details of the partnership soon.
