Breaking Limitations: KYF to Host Continental Youth with Disabilities Virtual Conference on July 31st

Kenya Youth Federation (KYF) is proud to announce its inaugural Youth with Disabilities (YWD) Virtual Conference, scheduled to take place on July 31st, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM EAT. Themed “Breaking Limitations,” this groundbreaking event will be a unifying platform that brings together young people with disabilities, advocates, policymakers, professionals, and community leaders from across Kenya and the African continent.

This continental conference will provide a safe, inclusive, and empowering space where young persons with disabilities (YWD) can voice their experiences, share their stories, and engage in critical dialogue aimed at shaping a more inclusive future. Participants will explore the barriers that limit their potential; be it physical, systemic, or social, and collectively work toward solutions that foster accessibility, equality, and opportunity. The event will also challenge stereotypes and shift mindsets around disability by showcasing the leadership, innovation, and resilience that exists within the disability community.

Keynote speakers Jagero Oduor and Julius Mbura (Julio), both distinguished disability/youth rights advocates, will share their journeys and insights that continue to inspire youth across Africa. The panel will feature Maina Karanja and Patricia Mativo, two dynamic youth leaders championing social equity and disability inclusion. The discussions will be moderated by Ms. Mariah Kinyanjui, a passionate voice in disability discourse, who will steer the conversation to be both reflective and action-driven.

The event is designed not only to create awareness but also to catalyze real change. Through testimonial sessions, leadership conversations, youth dialogue, and policy framing, the conference will help boost self-esteem among young persons with disabilities, promote inclusion in decision-making spaces, and present opportunities for networking and collaboration. It will also mark the public release of KYF’s “Inclusion Outlook,” a bold statement on the Federation’s commitment to meaningful disability inclusion in all its programs and structures.

This is a free virtual event, open to all interested participants across Africa and beyond. Whether you are a young person with a disability, a supporter of inclusive development, or someone seeking to learn more about disability rights and empowerment, this event is for you.
